Getting there
Airport
Your destination airport on Crete is Heraklion airport located to the east of the city of Heraklion, at the north side of the island of Crete. This is approximately 2 hours leisurely drive from Bayview which is situated just outside the harbour town Makrigialos in South eastern Crete.
Car Hire
There are various international car hire companies at the airport: Avis, Budget, Eurocartell, Eurodollar, Eurolease, Hertz, Holiday Auto, Motor Club-Sigma, Motor Sport, National-Alamo, Sixt, Tourent and Travel Star. We have used "www.thebestcars.gr" who are licenced by the Greek National Tourist Organisation.
Public Transport
Taxi There are taxis available at the kerb opposite the arrivals hall. They provide a quick and efficient service, but it is advisable to agree the price with the driver before the journey.
Bus The bus service is good. Local buses leave from the airport every few minutes from early morning until late in the evening from Monday to Saturday and less frequently on Sundays.

Stops on the way
Agios Nicholas is half way and makes a good stop, attractions include the small lagoon Lake Voulismeni, small beaches, the island of Agioi Pantes, the archaeological museum, the local flora exhibition and numerous fairs. Tourists comprise mainly West Europeans with Greek tourists arriving in mid August. The lagoon features a small park with a trail, traditional fishing boats, bird life, an amphitheatre and many cafès.
